Chapter 11: Nucelic Acid Structure, DNA Replicaiton, and Chromosome Structure (Christina)

In the first section of this page, you will write a daily summary of that day's class.  For example in  your chapter 2 blog, your first entry should be titled 9/3/10.  You should then write a one or two paragraph summary of that day's lecture, outlining the major points.  In the second section, you are required to add two items (link to a website, video, animation, student-created slide show, student-created PowerPoint presentation) and one journal article pertaining to a topic in this chapter.  A one-paragraph summary must accompany each item describing the main idea and how it applies to the lecture topic.  Please see the PBWorks help guide for assistance embedding video and other items directly in the page.  I will also produce a how-to video on using tables to wrap text around items and other useful tips.  Please see the syllabus for organization and grading details.

This video shows an animation of DNA replication. I have seen this video before when I was learning about DNA replication Freshmen year. It helped me back then, and watching it again now helps me as well. I think this video is helpful because it shows a good animation of what DNA replication is. It shows the nucleotides and the polymerase and helicase replication the DNA. It makes the process very clear and I like it a lot. It is very easy to follow and understand.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DNA  Even though this link is from wikipedia, I find it to be very helpful. I like the detailed description it gave of DNA. I always forget the structure of DNA. This link goes into detail about the nucleotides and which ones pair up with each other. That is where I find most difficulty when studying about DNA. This link is very easy to understand so I think it helps a lot. It gives very good details of the structure of DNA.
http://www.plosbiology.org/article/info:doi/10.1371/journal.pbio.0030401  This article discusses an impaired DNA replication. I think this article is interesting because it shows what happens when DNA replication does not function properly. When the process of DNA replication does not occur properly, it messes things up and this article is an example of how that can happen. I thought it was a good read and I was able to relate what I learned while reading the article. I knew what went wrong in this case because I know what is supposed to happen in DNA replication.
