About Me
My name is Derek Weber and I am starting my third year as an Assistant Professor at Raritan Valley Community College. I earned my BS in Chemistry from Moravian College in Bethlehem, PA and my PhD in Biomolecular Chemistry at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. My thesis was titled, "The regulation of gene expression under anaerobic conditions by the global regulator FNR". After finishing my PhD I spent one-year as a Visiting Professor at John Carroll University in Cleveland Heights, OH before moving to Broward College in Davie, FL where I spent three years as a full-time faculty member.
My teaching philosophy is to have students appreciate the complex world around them. The critical thinking skills learned in a science class can be used throughout one's education and future career whether it is in science or another field. I am also interested in using instructional technology to enhance the classroom experience. This wiki is one example of these efforts.
A further description of my background can be found in the Annual Report published by RVCC.
Overtime with Professor Weber
